7 Ways to Increase Curb Appeal

curb appealCurb appeal allows for a warm and inviting impression of your home. I always believe that having your homes entry express “if you like what my front door has to offer you will love what is beyond it.” The great thing is you don’t have to break the bank to create that curb appeal that buyers are impressed with. Just doing a few of the items listed below will take your entry from drab to fab in no time.

Dress up your front door.

Your homes entry is the focal point of all that is curb appeal. Doing a few simple things to dress up your front door space will make it appealing to everyone including potential buyers. Add a few pieces of bright furniture that has a color that stands out or a wreath that reflects your style. These are two great ways to dress up your door.

Paint the front door.

The days of having a boring neutral door have passed. Having a front door that pops is an incredibly modern touch that can make your home look fresh. I am a big fan of a red door (which can be feng shui depending on the direction the door faces) or a bright green or teal color will really make your door stand out.

Add some lights or lanterns.

Curb appeal isn’t just about creating an inviting home during the day but also after the sun goes down. Adding some solar lights, lanterns or rope lights to the path or sidewalk leading up to your front door will create a bright and elegant entry to your home

Go big and bold with the address numbers.

Get rid of those tiny little address numbers and replace them with some big and bold address numbers to make it visible from the street and help highlight your homes identity.

Plant some flowers.

Adding flowers to the walkway as well as right on the front door landing, will breathe new life into your entry. If you only do one thing to increase your curb appeal this is the one to do. Flowers add an inviting essence to any space and will welcome your guests and potential home buyers in all the right ways.

Spell it out.

Nothing says welcome like having it written out right at your front door. This could be as simple as a cute sign or even a welcome mat. If you want to be especially bold and fun you could always use the stick on letters and spell it out right on your front door. It doesn’t even just have to be welcome, hello or another inviting phrase will do as well.

Change out the hardware.

Don’t overlook the simple little things that you can do to increase the curb appeal of your home. Changing out the door handle and lock, replacing outdated and rusty looking light fixtures or adding a kick plate to the front door are all simple weekend tasks that can enhance the appeal of your home.
